Job Description:

Our Leonardo Helicopters UK Flying Training Centre are recruiting for an AW101 Pilot Instructor to join them. As the AW101 Pilot Instructor, you will act as the Pilot SME in support of live and synthetic customer flying and training delivery. You will be responsible for the design and development of all training material to comply with Leonardo and MAA regulations and standards. In addition to this, you will oversee; simulator conversion flying, type conversion flying training, basic role flying training, for Pilots on AW101 aircraft types for various international customers. Please note most of the flying training is delivered at our UK Flying Training Centre in Yeovil, although there may be a requirement to deploy overseas to either deliver flying training or to support the customer's AW101 introduction into service.

What you will be doing as an AW101 Pilot Instructor;
  • Support conduct of technical assessments and analysis of requirement with your customer as directed by your team leader
  • Research and evaluate the technical content of the training material you either develop or approve for currency, accuracy and ease of applicability
  • Support the development and content of all Flying Training Courses for the AW101 aircraft
  • Deliver training to the customer to the required standard to meet fully the requirements and needs of the customer
  • Review training materials against the product on a regular basis and update as authorised
  • Ensure when delivering training that your individual and direct personal contact with the customer is of the highest engineering, professional and personal standards
  • Ensure compliance with all extant non-flying related regulations and documentation and be responsible for the performance of the flying training in accordance with the Operations Manual and contract requirements
  • Prepare and deliver student flight and ground tests and examinations and ensure that the highest possible standards of flying are achieved and maintained by students
  • Completion of Instructors Flight Reports after every training sortie
  • Support regular reviews of the Standardisation, Safety and Quality Systems, and make proposals for improving safety standards and efficiency in training
  • Schedule and deliver the Flying Training Flying Programme to meet programme commitments
  • Liaise with the Maintenance Organisation to make sure the training aircraft are available to meet the published Flying Programme
  • Control and maintain the flying training documentation and records

What we need from you;

Essential Qualifications:
  • Ex-UK military EH101 or AW101 QHI
  • Minimum 1500hrs twin engine helicopter PIC
  • Minimum QHI B1 (Instructor) 500hrs multi engine instruction

Highly Desirable Qualification:
  • Ex UK Royal Navy / Royal Air Force Pilot 1500hrs on EH/AW101
  • EH101 / AW101 QHI A2 500hrs airborne instruction
  • Procedural Instrument Rated
  • Performance Based Navigation trained
  • NVGI
  • CPL(H) + IR / ATPL(H)
  • Previous involvement in course design and development
  • Familiar with Defence System Approach to Training (DSAT)
