Maintenance Control Manager

Engineering’s ambition is to be one of the world’s highest performing, customer centric and progressive engineering teams, and the role of Maintenance Control Manager is to minimise the loss of aircraft availability as a result of Aircraft on Ground (AOG) events, technical and maintenance delays. This is supporting the Hong Kong Operations section’s purpose to deliver a safe, on-time, defect-free and customer centric operation that meets business requirements and customer expectations, and driving business efficiencies and productivities through continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
The Maintenance Control Manager is accountable for the 24/7 technical worldwide operational management of the Cathay Pacific and Air Hong Kong fleets. This is a key role within the Engineering organisation that requires a high degree of leadership and operational experience and time in position to become fully qualified and effective. The role also requires extensive collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to drive continuous improvement and deliver operational excellence in support of the Cathay Pacific vision.
The Maintenance Control Manager role is an office hours function.
The Maintenance Control Manager is responsible for:
- Leading the Maintenance Control team by communicating business requirements, providing mentoring support and guidance to the team and tracking performance against business outcomes in support of world class maintenance control and transit operation functions delivering operational excellence to the airline.
- Efficiently recovering AOG aircraft around the network and minimising loss of aircraft availability.
- Collaborating with the airline Integrated Operations Centre to minimise customer disruption as a result of technical events.
- Delivering an efficient home base transit operation in collaboration with the airport authority, MROs and fuel companies to meet the requirements of a world class hub operation.
- Anticipating potential threats, hazards and risks to a stable operation, and implementing the appropriate mitigation plans.
- Analysing operational data arising from disruptions and embedding of lessons learned to continuously optimize and improve operational performance.
- Maintaining operational oversight of the Hong Kong Transit Operation to ensure it performs to business requirements.
- Maintaining oversight of Cathay Pacific’s Extended Diversion Time Operations (EDTO) to meet regulatory requirements.
- Managing all aspects of the Hong Kong Operations line maintenance budget to deliver value to the organisation through disciplined cost management and continued improvement.
- Driving continuous improvements, efficiencies and productivities by leveraging digital and lean techniques.
- Keeping abreast of industry developments especially around maintenance and troubleshooting technology and driving leading practices into the Cathay Pacific Integrated Operations Centre.
Requirements
- Minimum 10 years’ certifying experience on aircraft types operated by Cathay Pacific or Air Hong Kong.
- Minimum 7 years’ experience in a Maintenance Control position within Cathay Pacific or a major commercial airline.
- Must be the holder of a HKAR 66 B1.1 or B2 aircraft maintenance engineer’s licence with appropriate type approval or equivalent qualification from another jurisdiction.
- Proven work experience as a team leader or supervisor with demonstrated ability to set direction for the team.
- Proven work experience in the field of aircraft defect troubleshooting with excellent analytical and problem solving skills and a demonstrated ability to rapidly assess information, consider options and arrive at the optimum operational decision.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with demonstrated ability to function as part of a team. Proven capability to influence across internal and external stakeholders to assertively drive operational excellence.
- Highly self-motivated with a demonstrated ability to drive change and continuous improvement.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
