As Maintenance Standards and Safety Manager, you will play a pivotal role in upholding these values. You will lead the implementation of our Safety Management System (SMS), oversee quality assurance for contracted maintenance operations, and cultivate a culture of safety-first excellence. Collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders, you will direct risk assessments, lead incident investigations, and refine strategies to continuously elevate Cathay Pacific’s safety standards. Your work will ensure compliance, optimize outsourced maintenance quality, and reinforce our reputation as a global leader in aviation safety.

Key Responsibilities

The Quality and Airworthiness section is responsible for Engineering activities related to
airworthiness, safety, compliance of all aircraft types operated by Cathay Pacific Airways and its customer airlines

The Maintenance Standards and Safety Manager is responsible for Engineering activities related to safety investigation and maintenance oversights as mandated by HKCAD and IOSA requirements

Responsible for:

  • Lead a high-performing team, fostering a customer-centric, safety-driven culture with continuous improvement
  • Implement and oversee the Safety Management System (SMS), ensuring compliance with HKCAD, IOSA, and industry standards
  • Promote safety awareness and accountability across the organization through proactive risk mitigation
  • Manage safety investigations & maintenance oversight, ensuring adherence to regulatory and company requirements
  • Develop and enhance CPA maintenance standards to improve aircraft safety, quality, and reliability
  • Optimize global maintenance processes, reducing hazards and improving MRO performance through KPIs and inspections
  • Support Engineering’s SMS to align with corporate safety goals and regulatory compliance
  • Liaise with HKCAD on safety investigations, governance, and regulatory matters
  • Drive continuous improvement by staying updated on industry trends and enhancing efficiency/productivity
  • Deputize Head of Engineering Quality & Airworthiness for CX AOC and Part 145-related matters

Requirements

  • Engineering degree or Aircraft Maintenance Licence (or equivalent)
  • Typically 10 years of relevant experience
  • Proven experience of managing and delivering high performance through a team
  • Proven experience of leading and delivering business improvement
  • Proven experience of driving services providers and maintenance organisations to deliver the required business outcomes
  • Ability to build strong and effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders in particular regulators
  • Ability to lead and inspire the team and set stretched goals and targets
  • Previous experience in QA, QC, safety, risk management roles
  • Sound knowledge of Hong Kong Civil Aviation Department (HKCAD) regulations and/or other national authority regulations
