The Manager, Maintenance Planning is responsible for the forecast and strategic plan of all short-term and long-term maintenance requirements on company aircraft and the leadership of the Maintenance Planning department. This position is key to assuring that all required maintenance tasks are scheduled and issued within time limits specified in Endeavor’s maintenance program.
All About The Role
- Develop and maintain visit plans and schedules for overnight maintenance visits, aircraft modification lines, SVL allocations, engineering projects, and major component change plans.
- Partner with the Manager, Supplier Operations and Fleet Planning on heavy maintenance or outsourced maintenance plans and schedules.
- Oversee the development of work packages that include required routine maintenance tasks, deferred tasks, fleet campaigns, projects and aircraft mods.
- Monitors deferred maintenance tasks MELs, CDL, NEFs and PWI (Planning Watch Items) and ensures these deferrals are completed by the due date.
- Develop and distribute key performance metrics relative to Theory of Constraints (TOC) for Remain Over Night (RON) maintenance visits.
- Provide leadership, mentoring and direction to team members in the Maintenance Planning department concerning daily job functions, company policy, procedures, and safety.
- Work closely with numerous departments to ensure that all groups can execute maintenance tasks per the plan:
- Engineering to ensure timely scheduling and completion of EOs, Fleet Campaigns and ADs
- Materials organization to ensure scheduled tasks have materials available at the maintenance bases where maintenance tasks are assigned
- Manager of Maintenance Control for “unscheduled” out of service aircraft and aid in the timely return to service of the aircraft
- Tooling Manager to ensure the required tooling to accomplish scheduled tasks are located at the appropriate maintenance bases
- Sector Supervisors and OCC management on routing of aircraft to locations required for maintenance.
- Assess and propose maintenance packaging requirements to minimize aircraft out of service time.
- Assist in developing annual budget plans concerning present and future maintenance requirements.
- Regularly reviews departments Maintenance Planning Manual (MPM) and Long-Range Planning Manual (LRPM) and makes changes/updates as procedures change within the department.
- Notify senior management in the event of a scheduling conflict or material shortage impacting the timely compliance of all scheduled maintenance requirements.
- Coordinate with IT on systems changes and technology improvements which include, defining detailed business requirements, testing and documenting/tracing of issues, process/procedure changes, and communication/change management.
- Coordinate the activity required upon new aircraft arrival and the transfer of aircraft to and from the company fleet.

All About You
- Bachelor’s degree and/or relative experience in Aviation Maintenance, Planning, Maintenance Management, or other relative fields.
- 7 years’ experience in aircraft maintenance and airline operations.
- A&P License preferred.
- Knowledge of Theory of Constraints, Lean or Six Sigma preferred.
- Ability to author and revise processes and procedures for accomplishing aircraft maintenance tasks and for the organization.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment, that requires handling multiple tasks with a high degree of attention to detail in making timely operational decisions.
- Must be capable of producing senior management level reports relative to fleet scheduling and forecast requirements.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Work is performed in the Endeavor Air OCC, and requires professional contact with OCC personnel, management staff, and business relationships with outside vendors, as well as the FAA.
- Position requires some physical exertion such as pulling, pushing, reaching, bending, standing, walking and light lifting of boxes, bags, files, etc. not in excess of 30 lbs.
- Withstand long periods of sitting. Computer work, in a typical office environment, subject to critical deadlines
- Must be able to communicate clearly in speech and writing, and intermediate level computer skills is a must.
- Be available by phone or email before, during, and after business hours, within reasonable means, as needed.
- Must be willing to work occasional nights, weekends, and holidays in order to lead and support a 24/7 operation.
- Some company travel may be necessary.
