Under the supervision of the Airport Maintenance Supervisor, the Airport Maintenance Technician performs regular maintenance of Airport assets to ensure efficient operations of the Georgetown Executive Airport.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Performs hangar and building maintenance repairs, including troubleshooting electrical, plumbing, and HVAC
  • Performs preventative maintenance on gates, hangar doors, and airfield lighting equipment.
  • Operates all equipment related to maintenance and repairs of airport infrastructure, including pavement, building systems, lighting, signs, and markings.
  • Performs required daily inspections.
  • Responds to after-hours emergencies when on call.
  • Communicates with Air Traffic Control as needed to access movement areas.
  • Performs welding/structural repairs as needed.
  • Assists in inspections and repairs of airfield lighting, including the entire lighting system from regulators to changing bulbs.
  • Performs airfield mowing and general lawn maintenance.
  • Picks up Foreign Object Debris (FOD) while on the airfield.
  • Monitors surroundings while out on the airfield to include wildlife harassment techniques when wildlife is present.
  • Performs maintenance to fuel farms and self-serve pumps.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education, training and Experience Guidelines

High school diploma or equivalent. Three (3) years of full-time general grounds maintenance, or airfield experience, or any equivalent combination of experience and training. Ability to establish and maintain positive relations with fellow employees, City officials, and contractors.

Knowledge of:
  • Work safety practices, procedures, and protocols.
  • Applicable local, State, and Federal laws and knowledge of ATA 103 handling/storage of Hazmat
  • General aviation and airport security procedures

Skill in:
  • Performing various skilled and semi-skilled tasks in the maintenance and repair of airport facilities and equipment.
  • Communicating verbally and in writing..
  • Reading equipment manuals and operation warnings.
  • Applying safety procedures to tasks.
  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Valid Class C Texas driver's license. Must be able to obtain Airport Movement Area certification within one month of employment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT

Standing, sitting, walking, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, reaching, handling, fine dexterity, crouching, bending, vision, hearing, talking, and use of foot controls. Exposed to weather, aircraft engine noise, dust, pollen, liquid petroleum products, and other chemicals.

Hiring Range: $18.36 - $23.00, hourly.
