What are your contributions to the team?

When on duty, the Airport Operations Officer is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the Bombardier Pearson Ramp and the Airport Operations Centre IAW regulations, publications and policies. He/she is the main contact person for all communications between Bombardier Flight Operations and other company departments. He/she is the initial point of contact for all requests for Operations support to other agencies.

  • Coordinate with multiple GTAA agencies with respect to accessing the airport for Flights, Ground Runs, Compass swings and any other access requirements.
  • Coordinate flying schedule and any airport access requirements with pre-flight.
  • Assisting pre-flight to ensure the ramp area is clear of FOD (Foreign Object Debris) and to comply with safety measures.
  • The continuous briefing of pilots regarding forecast & actual weather conditions, flight restrictions, new procedures or regulations, updates on aircraft serviceability/maintenance and any other information pertinent to daily flying operations.
  • The use of VHF, HF, FM, Analog and Digital radios as well as multi-line telephones, faxes, email and digital transmittal equipment on a daily basis for local and global communications purposes.
  • Flight planning and co-ordination of airspace for production flight purposes.
  • Maintenance and regular input of electronic log and other Flight Operations databases.

Long Description

  • Monitoring of ramp area and airport surfaces to ensure ground personnel operate aircraft in compliance with company and government regulations.
  • Reporting of ramp outages.
  • Supervise, monitor and train new Flight Ops personnel ensuring that all facility standards are met prior to receiving checkout.
  • Prepare written and oral reports for the progress evaluation and debriefing of trainees and their supervisors.
  • On call during non-regular hours and weekends (24/7) and point of contact for all company flying operations.
  • ERP point of contact for flying ops.
  • Chief, Airport Operations delegate when on duty.
  • Other Duties as assigned by the Chief, Airport Operations.

How to thrive in this role?

  • You have a minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience working in a Flight Operations Dispatch environment.
  • You possess a diploma in Aviation Management or have relevant equivalent experience.
  • You hold a Restricted Radio Operators License.
  • You have computer skills necessary to operate MS Suite and navigate web-based applications.
  • You have excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills as well as the ability to adjust communication to the level of the listener.
  • You have strong communication, problem solving, and leadership skills necessary to effectively work with a variety of departments.
  • You have the capability to work under minimal supervision.
