POSITION SUMMARY: The Airframe & Powerplant Mechanic is responsible for the day to day aircraft maintenance activities, including aircraft preservation and letter checks. This is an experienced-level position that reports to the Maintenance Supervisor in the Maintenance Department.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
• Reads, understands and interprets applicable maintenance manuals, service bulletins, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing and /or replacing components.
• Replaces or repairs worn or damaged components.
• Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining good communications, coordination, and working relations with Company personnel and management.
• Assumes responsibility for ensuring that Aircraft Maintenance functions are completed in accordance with Federal regulations as well as Company policies and procedures.
• Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned.
• Performs storage requirements, to include servicing, lubrication and inspection of airframe in accordance with applicable maintenance manuals.
• Diagnoses and troubleshoots aircraft systems in order to determine cause of defect.
• Performs aircraft rigging requirements per applicable maintenance manuals when applicable
• Familiar with aircraft Illustrated Parts Breakdown for identifying replacement materials and components.
• Operates Ground Support Equipment necessary for completing assigned task.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• High school diploma or equivalent
• 2+ years' experience in commercial aircraft maintenance or modification.
• Valid A&P license

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Education received from an FAA approved aircraft maintenance and mechanic training program
• GEN-FAM for B777, B787, A319/320/321

SUCCESS FACTORS/JOB COMPETENCIES:
• Must have working knowledge and ability to trouble-shoot, remove/replace, inspect, or adjust/rig aircraft systems, sub-systems and components (i.e. power-plant, landing gear, flight controls, hydraulics, pneumatics, air conditioning and auxiliary power units).
• Knowledge of aircraft maintenance manuals, ATA codes, applicable F.A.R.S. and paperwork/sign-off procedures.
• Quality orientation.
• Well organized and attentive to detail.
• Willingness to assist others.
• Ability to closely follow written and verbal instructions.
• Must be able to understand, read, write and speak Standard English, including technical, aircraft maintenance related vocabulary, for technical and general work correspondence.
• Must be able to adhere to all established safety policies, processes and procedures.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This job operates in indoor and outdoor settings. The indoor settings include office and warehouse environments which require the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines, as well as safety gear. The outdoor settings include parking lots and airplane runways. The noise level in the work environment is occasionally loud. Occasionally subject to varying inside and/or outside temperatures, which may include extreme heat (temperatures above 100 degrees) or extreme cold (temperatures below 32 degrees).

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

TRAVEL: There is no travel expected for this position.
