As part of our investment in our future, we launched our Melbourne Engineering Precinct as the main maintenance hub of our network and have now welcomed over ten new A321 NEO's into our fleet. Our team supports not only the maintenance of Jetstar aircraft, but also that of Qantas Group A320, and A321 Freighter aircraft and Jetstar Branded Airlines (JBA's) in Singapore and Japan.

Reporting to the Manager Defect Control, the primary function of the Defect Control Engineer (otherwise known as Maintenance Operations Control Engineer) is to manage the A320 and B787 aircraft fleet health. You will work with within the Jetstar Maintenance Operations Centre to ensure defect rectification activity is prioritised, planned and rectified effectively across the maintenance network and unplanned maintenance items are resolved in a timely manner. You will also work closely with the Duty Technical Managers, Predictive Maintenance engineers, Maintenance planning, Material Support and Fleet teams to identify and address recurring defects and to isolate rogue components which may be affecting fleet performance.

Your main accountabilities include:
  • Identifies parts, specialised troubleshooting needed to rectify defects and monitors via TRAX
  • Maintains a comprehensive log of TS efforts, rectifications, parts replacements on every Aircraft
  • Inputs Maintenance requirements to populate Auto EMN
  • Uses Skywise, CHRONICX, AHM etc. to mitigate aircraft reoccurring defects
  • Assists our AMO team with troubleshooting aircraft defects
  • Re-plan deferred defect tasks
  • Liaise with LMP, AAC and AMO for hangar slots and manpower requirement for overnight and all day lay up defects
  • Set priorities in ports for overnight defect acquittal.

We are on the hunt for the following skills and experience:
  • Demonstrated experience in a Heavy or Line Maintenance environment on company aircraft as an AME or equivalent; OR Higher education equivalent
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels within a team;
  • Demonstrate knowledge of PART 145 / 42 regulatory framework;
  • Understanding of TRAX, Skywise, AHM, AIRNAV, Rocade and Microsoft Office applications;
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment;
  • Proven record in initiative, determination, and achievement.
