Candidates with experience and additional qualifications that exceed minimum requirements will be given preference. Examples of additional qualifications include multi-engine, multi-crew, internal WestJet experience, or graduation from one of our partner schools.
*Experience that will be considered equivalent to CARs 705 includes, but is not limited to, Part 121 or European Airline, heavy military transport/multi-engine, large corporate PIC operating under CARs 704, high performance multi-engine aircraft PIC operated under CARs 704 or multi-engine/multi-crew in aircraft over 25,000lbs.
Compensation
A competitive compensation package will be offered as per the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Additional total rewards including yearly step pay increases (January 1st), WestJet Saving Plan (WSP), Profit Share (based on quarterly profitability and is not guaranteed), Owner's Performance Award (dependent on meeting company specific targets), uniform allowance, travel privileges and flexible benefit plan.
WestJet Encore offers coverage under a flexible group benefit plan for Pilots from the first day of active work. Benefits include extended health, dental, out of country/province emergency travel medical, group life, accidental death and dismemberment, short-term disability, long term disability, critical illness, health spending or personal spending account.

Key Responsibilities
- Operate the Q400 in accordance with the regulations and standards set out by Transport Canada, the manufacturer, and WestJet Encore
- Ensure crew members comply with the safety regulations and company requirements during all phases of flight
- Lead by example with honesty, integrity and ensure effective communication among the crew and our guests
- Ability to work within a dynamic team environment and liaise with the Operations Control Centre
- Deliver an exceptional WestJet guest experience, while ensuring a safe and on-time operation
- Flexible and adaptable to respond to the changing demands of the operation and business
- Professional and committed to upholding WestJet values
Are you ready for your next adventure? Ensure you meet the following requirements:
- Transport Canada Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL)
- 2000 hours total time (fixed-wing aircraft)
- 250 hours fixed-wing pilot-in-command time
- 500 flight hours under CARs 705, or equivalent*
- Valid Transport Canada Group 1 Instrument Rating and Class 1 Medical Certificate
- Legally entitled to work in Canada (must hold Canadian Citizenship, Permanent Residency or open work permit with PR application in process)
- Primary residence must be in Canada and eligible to obtain and maintain provincial health care
- All required visas or travel documents allowing for unrestricted travel
- Clear police background and criminal record check
- Oral and written proficiency in English
- Offers of employment are conditional on passing a pre-employment alcohol and drug screening test
- Restricted Area Identification Card (RAIC) obtained prior to the completion of Initial Ground School
