Job Summary:

Airbus Mobile Manufacturing Site is looking for Final Assembly Line Technicians (Aircraft Systems, Structures, Electrical and Cabin) to join our A320 Manufacturing Site located in Mobile, Alabama.

You will be part of a team that is responsible for the execution of planned assembly work as well as rework related installations in line with the production schedule as part of the total production process with the aim of delivering on time and on quality.

The team at the Airbus U.S. Manufacturing Facility assembles the finest aircraft in the world, along two (soon to be three) production lines for the A220 and A320 Family aircraft. On the shop floor you will be surrounded by individuals who are passionate about aviation and skilled in areas like electrical, structures, and systems quality. Your working environment:

Near 'Airbus Way' you will find the Airbus U.S. Manufacturing Facility for commercial aircraft. Opened at the Mobile Aeroplex at Brookley in 2015, the facility produces A320 Family aircraft and added a second product line for the A220 in 2019. The facility, which strengthens the U.S. aerospace industry, is part of Airbus' strategy to enhance its global competitiveness by meeting the growing needs of its customers in the United States and beyond.

Your challenges:

Production:
  • Read, interpret and understand technical documentation such as Standard Operating Instructions, manuals and drawings
  • Aircraft production work to include but not limited to:
  • Assembly of interior furnishing and equipping parts, to include cockpit, doors, galleys, toilets and floor covering
  • Installation and testing of electrical, mechanical and hydraulic units and components
  • Install and manufacture of components and parts (i.e. marking, connecting, assembling, bundling, Painting, fitting, torquing, bonding, attaching, disassembling, positioning and repairs)
  • Pre-flight activities to include fluid servicing, installation and removal of aircraft protective devices
  • Prepare mechanical components for installation at the workstation
  • Mark, prepare, assemble, adapt, torque and secure mechanical components and parts
  • Inspect electrical bonding as per work orders, drawings, and specifications
  • Checking systems functions and performing minor troubleshooting activity
  • Maintain legible and accurate documentation as required
  • Sign off all work accomplished at shift end
  • Inspect work of other team members and complete systems before customer acceptance
  • Maintain a Foreign Object Debris (FOD) free work environment
  • Follow safe work practices and use/wear prescribed Personal Protective Equipment for specific tasks

Training and Continuous Improvement:
  • Participate in hands on, computer based, and classroom training
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives.

Other duties as assigned:
  • Participated in process improvement activities
  • Determine ways to eliminate disruptions and rework
  • Perform presentations to the customer

Your boarding pass:

Education:
Required
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • The ability to successfully complete the following trainings provided by Airbus after recruitment: Health & Safety, General aircraft familiarizatio, Quality trainings

Preferred
  • Training from a vocational school or previous employer in the use of applicable hand tool

Experience:

Required
  • 3-5 years minimum experience in Aviation Production, maintenance, or equivalent

Preferred:
  • Completed vocational training (Mechanics/Systems)
  • 5+ years hands-on experience in Aviation Maintenance or Production
  • Documented Training upon request (Training certificates, e.g. military training jacket or civilian equivalent)
  • FAA Airframe Certificate

Communication Skills (Spoken, Written, Influencing, Proficiency in Other Languages):
  • Must be able to read, write and communicate in English

Travel Required:
  • 2% Domestic and International
  • Possible training or assignment at another facility or abroad in Europe.

Citizenship:

Eligible for employment in the US: US Person under ITAR definition (U.S. Citizen, green card holder or person covered under our existing ITAR license), Authorized to work in the US, Able to work in US without current or future need for visa sponsorship

Physical Requirements:
  • Onsite or remote: 100% onsite
  • Vision: Able to see and read computer screen and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents, reports and engineering drawings several times a day.
  • Hearing: able to hear to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds on production floor including safety warnings or alarms throughout the day
  • Speaking: able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information and participate in communications throughout the day.
  • Equipment Operation: able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment and some tools including production tools such as hydraulic lifts throughout the day.
  • Carrying: able to carry documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 55lbs/14kgs throughout the day. .
  • Lifting: able to lift documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 55lbs/14kg throughout the day.
  • Pushing / Pulling: able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools throughout the day.
  • Sitting: able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on computer periodically thought the week.
  • Squatting / Kneeling: able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving throughout the day.
  • Standing: able to stand for discussions in offices or on production floor throughout the day.
  • Confined Space: able to enter and exit a 12" x 22" passage and work through a 9.7" x 17.7" opening while using a respirator within a confined space for various lengths of time
  • Travel: able to occasionally travel independently and at short notice.
  • Walking: able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces throughout the day.
  • Personal Protective Equipment required: Required PPE includes, but is not limited to, Safety Shoes, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection, Respirators/Masks, and/or Protective Gloves as required by site and/or customer site
  • Climbing: Able to climb ladders and equipment periodically through the day.
