Responsibilities

The Aircraft Lead Mechanic reports directly to the Supervisor Line Maintenance at Line Maintenance Stations. In the absence of the Aircraft Lead Mechanic, the Supervisor may select a replacement. The Aircraft Lead Mechanic is considered a working member of the crew.
  • Supervise maintenance personnel on their assigned shift to the extent required to ensure such work is accomplished in a safe, timely manner, in compliance with authorized work documents, manuals, and CFRs.
  • Review logbook pages and non-routines for discrepancies and take prompt remedial action when required.
  • In field locations, debrief flight crews regarding discrepancies.
  • Advise Supervisor Line Maintenance of discrepancies reported by Flight Crews.
  • Coordinate repairs and corrective actions with Supervisor Line Maintenance and Maintenance Operations Control.
  • Coordinate material requirements with Stores Personnel and, as applicable, Supervision.
  • Ensure that materials required for DMIs and Watch Items are identified and such information is provided to MOC as applicable.
  • Provide and document OJT for assigned crew and/of shift.
  • Ensure good housekeeping practices are in effect and that standard safety measures are used to protect personnel, equipment and property.
  • Accomplish Shift Turnover Logs (Form GMM-30-04) for each shift.
  • If assigned by Maintenance Supervisor, complete the Production Work Turnover process in TRAX and review the previous shift's entries as well.
  • Perform additional tasks as specified in the GMM Chapter 70.
  • May perform other responsibilities as assigned. Responsibilities and duties may change when circumstances dictate (e.g., emergencies change in workload, rush jobs or technical developments).

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Hold a current Airframe and Powerplant Certification.
  • Must possess, maintain, or be able to obtain a valid Passport.
  • Valid, unrestricted Driver's License.
  • Must meet the recent experience requirements in accordance with 14 CFR 65.83.
  • Willing and able to work any shift.
  • Ability to lift up to 85 lbs.; clearly write, read, and speak the English language; Squat, bend and climb regularly; work off of stands and lift trucks.
  • Ability to read wire diagrams and disseminate various levels of work instruction related to Line Maintenance and Aircraft Modification.
  • Be able to qualify for airport security badge and customs seal.
  • Ability to travel to remote locations and countries to perform maintenance.
  • 2-5 years air carrier commercial aircraft maintenance experience.
  • A320 Family aircraft experience preferred.
  • Sheet metal and Avionics skills are preferred.
