The Maintenance Director (Accountable Manager EASA P145) is responsible for the overall management and oversight of the SmartLynx Technik operations, ensuring that line maintenance is conducted in compliance with all regulatory requirements and line with airline expectations. Reporting to the Chief Technical Officer (CTO), the Maintenance Director will lead and manage line maintenance stations, ensure optimal use of resources, and maintain high standards of safety, compliance, and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that all line maintenance is carried out per EASA Part-145 requirements, organization procedures, and company policies.
  • Determine the SmartLynx Technik strategy and policy for aircraft maintenance;
  • Lead and manage the overall operations of Part 145 divisions, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Oversee and guide a team of line maintenance engineers, promoting teamwork and a culture of excellence.
  • Ensure that all areas of line maintenance are organized for optimal performance, including the efficient use of available assets and manpower.
  • Oversee production planning of maintenance activities, organizing shifts while considering human performance limitations.
  • Co-ordinate line maintenance and operation activities
  • Ensure that appropriate procedures are established and adhered to within the airline's technical team.
  • Ensure that all SmartLynx Technik personnel have adequate training and qualifications for the work to be performed.
  • Ensuring that adequate resources (personnel, facilities, equipment, tools, materials, and data) are available to support the maintenance activities and compliance with the regulations.
  • Assess and approve external maintenance services required by the SmartLynx Technik.
  • Ensuring effective communication channels within the organization and that reporting structures are clear.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance maintenance efficiency, safety, and quality.
  • Oversee the establishment of new line stations in response to company needs, including assessing location suitability, resource requirements, and regulatory compliance.
  • Develop and manage the SmartLynx Technik budget, ensuring all expenditures align with the airline's financial goals.
  • Monitor maintenance costs, identify cost-saving opportunities, and implement strategies to optimize expenditures.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in aircraft maintenance, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role, preferably in an ACMI or charter airline environment overseeing P145.
  • Relevant engineering or technical degree, or an additional 5 years of experience in maintenance or continuing airworthiness management.
  • Holder of a valid EASA Part 66 Aircraft Maintenance License and successful completion of relevant aircraft type familiarization trainings will be considered as advantage.
  • Extensive knowledge of EASA Part 145 regulations, Safety Management Systems (SMS), Human Factors, Fuel Tank Safety (FTS), and Electrical Wiring Interconnection System (EWIS).
  • Proven experience managing multiple line maintenance stations and leading large technical teams.
  • Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with a focus on safety, quality, and operational efficiency.
  • Financial acumen with experience managing budgets and controlling costs.
  • Proficiency in Maintenance Management Systems (MMS) and other aviation software tools.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
  • Previous experience as an Accountable Manager or in a similar regulatory authority-approved position.
  • Strong network within the aviation industry, particularly with regulatory bodies, OEMs, and maintenance service providers.
