Reporting to the Product Manager, the Product Owner plays a key role in managing the backlog of new and existing data across Air Canada Products, specifically for our Customer data domains.
As a Product owner, Data Product you will act as a bridge between the stakeholders and the data teams, ensuring that the data products meet the needs and expectations of the end-users as well as Air Canada’s strategic objectives. You will be working in an agile environment, with frequent feedback and iterations, and using the latest tools and technologies to create data products that are scalable, reliable, and user-friendly.
Responsabilities:
Facilitate and participate in agile sessions to assess and capture requirements as per the stakeholders’ needs and expectations
- Requirements elicitation.
- Requirements walkthroughs and workshops.
- Guide creation of mapping documents that covers business rules, ensures data quality and accuracy.
Act as the bridge between the users/stakeholders and the Delivery team
- Responsible for maximizing the value delivered by the team by ensuring backlog is aligned with stakeholder needs and product manager vision.
- Write, present, and groom user stories.
- Coordinate with the development team to get the stories developed.
- Day-to-day support in requirements clarifications and business rules (SPOC for the development team for requirements/priorities).
- Facilitate/Coordinate or execute UAT testing.
- Take a lead role in the different SCRUM ceremonies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree with 3-5 years of Business Analyst or Product Owner experience, including hands-on experience managing all stages of the product life cycle. M.Sc. preferred.
- Knowledge of BI analytics/concepts and data warehouse platforms.
- Problem solver who thinks strategically, results oriented and attentive to details.
- High adaptability and strong critical thinking skills.
- Familiar with data and analytics analysis tools and delivery technologies:
- SQL (mandatory)
- Jira/Confluence (an asset)
- Snowflake (optional)
- Databricks (optional)
- Best practices in user acceptance testing (UAT).
- Agile methodology experience (CSM/PSM or CPO/PSPO certification is an asset).
- Excellent communication and listening skills
