We are looking for a Regional Engineering Safety & Compliance Specialist to join our team at CHC Helicopter!



The Regional Engineering Safety & Compliance Specialist is pivotal in enhancing safety and compliance within the UK AOC Part 145 & CAMO departments and the wider European Region. This position maintains and elevates airworthiness standards across the CHC operation, ensuring our practices align with the highest international benchmarks. By working at the core of CHC's Safety & Compliance team, you will have the unique opportunity to impact safety initiatives that influence UK and European operations.



This role will involve active engagement with the engineering and airworthiness teams but also includes travel opportunities across Europe to ensure Safety & Compliance of our contractors and subcontractors. Through these efforts, you will help to provide a consistent, safety-driven approach within CHC's global operation.



With extensive professional growth support, including industry-leading certifications and mentorship, CHC ensures that you will grow alongside us, setting new standards in aviation safety. CHC offers specialised training, including the Human Factors Analysis and Classification System (HFACS) used in investigations.



This role is based in the UK with the requirement for travel to all three of our bases - Aberdeen, Humberside, and Norwich. International travel may also be required to support the wider European region. Whilst the ideal candidate would be based in Aberdeen, we are open to discussing the opportunity being in one of our other UK bases if this was more suitable to the successful candidate. Additionally, we can offer flexibility with this role through hybrid working and flexible working opportunities.


The key responsibilities of the Regional Engineering Safety & Compliance Specialist are:


  • A visible safety advocate who will support and develop improvements in overall safety culture and behaviour
  • Conduct, lead, and coordinate team members to complete assigned audits in support of the quality audit program to provide effective oversight of the operations
  • Investigate relevant accidents, incidents, and matters related to a specified area of expertise (Engineering & Airworthiness), including analysis and development of recommendations to prevent recurrence
  • Deliver safety-related training to staff and management to improve understanding and performance of the SMS
  • Support local department managers to undertake specific safety-related activities such as:
  • Management of Change
  • Risk Assessment
  • Corrective and Preventative Action (CPA) development
  • SQID transactions
  • Hosting external auditors (regulator, clients, etc.)
  • Monitor all pertinent proactive and reactive safety reports and, where necessary, with relevant department managers to ensure appropriate support to deliver follow-up action is taken
  • Develop and update audit checklists, in collaboration with S&C Management, to align with company procedures, regulations, and customer requirements
  • Actively contribute and cooperate toward continuous improvement initiatives and programs
  • Coordinate, update, and administer safety system infrastructure as directed to meet operational requirements
  • Develop effective and productive relationships with key stakeholders within the management teams and externally with regulators, clients, and industry affiliates
  • Provide collection, collation, editing, and dissemination of safety information to promote safety awareness.
  • Update and support the control of the safety and quality database


The ideal candidate will have the following:

  • Possess or have held professional aviation accreditations such as a maintenance engineer licenses or experience in CAMO environment. Essential
  • Accredited training in Aviation Safety Management disciplines Desirable
  • Auditor Accreditation to ISO9000 or aviation specific Desirable
  • Incident Investigator qualification Desirable
  • Obtain aviation qualifications such as a Bachelor/Master of Aviation Management, Aviation Safety Management, etc Desirable
  • Have evidenced training within an aviation support function such as Logistics &Supply Chain, cabin crew, ground operations, flight operations, engineering workshop MRO, etc Desirable
  • Knowledge of NAA regulations Essential
  • Demonstrated experience as an auditor or Lead Auditor Desirable
  • Experience as part of or leading an incident investigation Desirable
  • Demonstrated experience in rotary wing offshore / SAR air operator's environment. Desirable
  • Demonstrated experience in fixed-wing charter or general aviation environments Desirable
  • Experienced with Safety Management Systems Desirable
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office software suite Essential
  • Self-motivated and results-oriented with a focus on the delivery of safety
  • Excellent listening, verbal and written communication, and presentation skills
  • Ability to work in a rapidly evolving and dynamic environment
  • Demonstrated team player with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to participate and deliver outcomes within a team of aviation professionals
