We are an innovative aerospace startup seeking a Senior Flight Control System Engineer to join our team and who is curious about new technologies such as Autonomous operation and INDI control to develop our cutting-edge drone technology. At Maple Aviation we develop a unique Tail-Sitter Drone, that flies with one propeller only and is controlled in position via a flap-thrust-vectoring system. In this role, you will work closely with our research and development team to develop our Drone Flight Control System and test drone prototypes from concept to final production. You will utilize your skills in Flight Control System modeling, drafting, and coding to create a Flight Control Systems that meets our performance requirements, but also to lead and develop junior Engineers.

Tasks

  • Design and programming of flight control algorithms for automatic and autonomous flight
  • Model building for flight dynamic processes and design of control and feedback control laws
  • Preparation and execution of flight tests with UAS systems
  • Analysis of flight data recordings as well as evaluation and processing of test

results

  • Generation of code with i.e. Matlab Simulink and its integration into the FCS /

autopilot framework

  • Supporting the certification of our product family and obtaining flight permits,

e.g. for BVLOS flight projects

  • Collaboration in the further development of the product development process

Requirements

  • MA Sc., Dipl., Dr. in mechanical, aerospace, robotics, automotive, electric engineering or related field
  • 4+ years of practical experience in Flight control system modeling and coding
  • Excellent knowledge in the field of flight mechanics, flight dynamic modelling

and control engineering. You also have practical experience with model

aircraft, evtols, multicopters and / or their subsystems.

  • Excellent knowledge of programming with Matlab/Simulink. Fluent handling of

the programming language C and Git is also desirable.

  • Experience with Px4 and interface managment with on-board data processing systems (ie. chip processing image sensor data) is a plus
  • Interested in model aircraft construction, drones or robotics and can't wait to

implement and try out new ideas.

  • You are highly self-motivated and drive your area of responsibility forward

independently. You teach us new things that holistically improve our team

and make it more efficient.

  • We are an international team communicating in English (other language skills

are also an advantage).

Benefits

We offer flexible working hours, work in home office and a dynamic and innovative work environment in the heart of the TUM startup world in the TUM Venture Labs in Ottobrunn, where you can grow your career in the exciting field of aerospace engineering. If you are passionate about designing cutting-edge technology and want to work with a dynamic team of engineers and researchers, we'd love to hear from you. Apply today to join our team!
